Getting started with BroadcastMate in about twenty minutes

· by David Gilbert

This walks through a first setup end to end. Budget about twenty minutes, and do it on a machine that isn't currently on air.

1. Install

Download the installer from the downloads page and run it. It won't touch your existing play-out system or its configuration.

2. Point it at your audio

On first run, BroadcastMate asks for your music folder. Use a copy for this first test if you'd rather be careful. It scans in the background — a library of around 10,000 tracks takes a few minutes.

3. Set your output device

Choose the sound card your desk is connected to. Testing on a laptop? The built-in output is fine for now.

4. Build a test clock

Create a simple rotation and let it run for ten minutes. Watch the as-run log fill in — that's your confirmation that logging works before you rely on it for compliance.

5. Ask if you get stuck
